I too havent heard of the soap or wipes that have been mentioned, but the funny thing is, my stoma nurse told me not to use anything like soap or perfumed cleaners near my stoma as it will irritate it. So, I use, a prescription moisturising cleanser, I dry the skin with tissues and then spray with cavelon. I sometimes use powder to protect too.

I used to use adhesive remover which comes in a little individual packet, when, wash or wipe depending on where I was at the time and then use stoma adhesive powder that you just puff on dry skin and then appy the pouch - one piece.
The one piece I use (Hollister New image) has two layers to the part that sticks to your skin and sometimes with a leak these layers separate and the adhesive part sticks to your skin. Other than that these days I only use water and the stomaadhesive powder. Very easy.
Ah yes, those scrubs in the shower are fantastic. Now I know why babies like to be without a nappy!
Is Ivory soap unscented? Never heard of All Kare, Topper wypes or the 3m spray.
I have spent some time recently in water that is 40-42 degrees and the pouch stayed atttached okay. I did use tape as a precaution but probably wont bother next time.

If you are going to a very hot country and sweating is affecting the adhesion of the pouch then my stoma nurse told me in these circumstances they recommend using a very mild deodrant on the skin surrounding the stoma. Ive never tried it myself but thought it might be worth mentioning.

I cleanse all the area with sensitive skin baby wipes(well Bertha`s still only 2). Then use Cavillon before putting fresh wafer/flange. I`ve not had any skin probs at all & I have very sensitive skin. Love Beth xxx

I remove the old wafer, get in the shower and scrub everywhere with Ivory soap. Feels soooo Good!
Towel dry, then blow dry with the hair dryer. I protect the stoma with the cardboard insert from a roll of toilet paper and spray with
NexCare no sting liquid bandage. Blow dry again, also warm sticky side of wafer with the hair dryer, then apply wafer to skin and hold till firm.
I use
ConvaTec Sur-Fit Natura Durahesive with Convexit. Each new wafer goes on at a slightly different angle to allow part of the area to be uncovered from time to time. I use several different size bags during the week, depending on activity. Wafer holds well for a week or more - if paper tape edge begins to loosen while seal is still stuck, I'll add pink tape (which doesn't stay stuck to my skin for long.)

That is really wild because that is what I do too........I still have a roll of that pink tape from when I was in the hospital.......hubby would call it the "Caucasion Tape".............I hate to take the time to change the wafer.....so as long as it is holding up and sticking......I will do anything....

"scrub everywhere with Ivory soap." Yep... LOVE it in our out of the shower for a quick clean up and change.
"I protect the stoma with the cardboard insert from a roll of toilet paper and spray with
NexCare no sting liquid bandage." Ok... I have some of that
NexCare Spray and couldn't figure out how to use it... my stoma is tiny (1/4") and flush/flat w/a stomahernia bump above it so - getting a size, fit and stick is HARD! Plus, I'm new & still learning.
"I use
ConvaTec Sur-Fit Natura Durahesive with Convexit."
I do good to keep a wafer to stick on for 24 hours but I am trying comvatec's new designs in bendable wafers when my ostomy nurse gets some more to try (one type didn't work) -- I hate changing wafers but I love the clean feeling of Ivory soap so I use it on just a wash cloth in front of the sink when I'm doing a quick or unexpected change too... just feels so good. I just learned about it (duh)
Anymore suggestions are SO welcome!

I use the All Kare. It comes in a turquoise color package. It is a little square of a wipe. It smells like floor wax and makes my fingers stick together !
Then I put an Eaken Seal directly onto the skin on top of the skin prep.....then put the wafer down on that......

(note, if this helps, experiment to see if you need all these, or just a few of them).
*Make sure skin is completely dry.
*Dust on Stomahesive Powder.
*Spray it with 3M? Cavilon? No Sting Barrier Film.
This is "a sting-free, alcohol-free liquid barrier film that dries quickly to form a breathable, transparent coating on the skin. Designed to protect intact or damaged skin from urine, feces, other body fluids, tape trauma, and friction."
I'm told that 3M Corp. has started marketing this same formula as "Nexcare No Sting Liquid Bandage" and it can be purchased over the counter at Wal-Mart Pharmacies and elsewhere for about $5.00.
*Apply an Eakin Seal.
"Eakin Cohesive Seals is designed to help prevent skin damage by providing an extra level of protection."
*Then put on the bag as usual.

Cammy uses topper eight gauze to clean his skin with warm water ..soapy if he is in the bath or shower. Then a wee squirt of cavalon m3 spray and thats him set to go ...
We did get a bit stuck one year on holiday when we ran out of cavalon which would'nt normaly have been a problem but he was out and in the salty water and ended up with a terrible rash under his flange and stoma cap,so one side of his tummy was a right mess ....all we had at the caravan was calomine lotion which I though we could use to cool the area down and leave him without his appliance for a wee while..
I put the calomine on he said it was fine cooled everything down once it dried up we thought we would try puting his flange on and hey presto it stuck...we did this for three days and his skin was great ,we have used it since for hot nippy skin
