How to create your Ostomyland blog

Author: Jason - Senior Admin/Webmaster

First of all you need to be a message board member, and be logged into your account. If you dont have an account for the Ostomyland message board you can register here for your free account and then you can login here.

With that all sorted we can now focus on creating a blog for you.

Useful Note:
You can see a desktop video of this tutorial at:

Tip: When watching this video, click on the full screen button in the centre of the video to make things easier to see! :)

1. Click on your username in the top right hand side of the board. From the drop down menu choose “MY SETTINGS” (see Fig 1.)

2. You are now in your user control panel/my settings page. From here you need to click on the BLOGS tab, which is in the top left hand side quarter of the page. (Fig.2).

3. With the blogs tab clicked on, you’ll now see the terms and conditions blurb for the blog service. Tick the box where it says “I have read, understood and agree to these terms of the Blog usage”, and then click on the next button.

4. Now you need to give your blog a name and a description. Make sure the drop down box menu is showing “Local Blog”, then click the finish button. (Fig. 3)

5. Congratulations! Your blog is now created with the default settings. If you want to change your settings, click once again on the BLOGS tab within the MY SETTINGS page. You’ll see the name of your blog there, along with a link to “Add a new entry”. (fig. 4.) Click on the blogs name and you’ll be taken to the settings page (in Fig. 4 I would be clicking on the Trekkie’s Corner link). There you can specify who can read the blog – i.e. make it public, private, or board-friends only.

6. So your blog is now set up to your preference. I’ll now show you how to post your first entry, although you’ve probably already guessed how to do it from step 5 above and from the fig. 4. graphic. Click on the BLOGS tab within the MY SETTINGS page (as shown in steps 2 & 5), and once again you’ll see your blogs name, and a link next to it saying “Post New Entry” (fig. 4. above). Click on that.

7. You are now on the new entry form page. Give your entry a title (the tags part can be left blank). The rest of the form is fairly self explainatory so i wont take you step by step through it. Simply give the entry a title, fill out the main text of the entry. At the bottom of the page you’ll see a POST NEW ENTRY blue button… BUT before you click on it though, above it you’ll see an option on whether to save as a draft or to post immediately (fig. 5). Choose your preference, then click on the POST NEW ENTRY button. You’ll then be taken to your newly uploaded blog entry.
