Ostomyland receives HONcode certification
Ostomyland recently applied for the Health On-Net Foundation’s “HONcode” certification, and Im pleased to be able to announce that we’ve been successful!
The Health On-Net Foundation is a non governmental organisation that aims to guide the growing community of healthcare consumers and providers on the World Wide Web to sound, reliable medical information and expertise.
The 8 core principles of the HONcode are: 1. Authoritative | 2. Complementarity | 3. Privacy | 4. Attribution | 5. Justifiability | 6. Transparency | 7. Financial disclosure | 8. Advertising policy and, to receive certification Ostomyland has had to prove that it follows them. This was done through an application process where each applicant site must meet and make strict parameters and statements about the principles, and receive a site content review from their own review staff. Ostomyland will also continue to receive regular unscheduled reviews to check that we’re continuing to honor the 8 principles of the HONcode.
A small badge from the HONcode stating our certification, and a link to verify it authenticity, has been placed on the main sidebar menu of this site (follow the menu to the bottom and you’ll see it). Click the verify link at any time to check our certificate and to check the validity of our application.
I’d like to take this moment to thank each and everyone of our members and readers, as without you Ostomyland would not be possible! So, thanks everyone!
