Over the weekend, the Ostomyland message board has been down due to some unscheduled downtime with the database server. The hosts have now rectified this problem and we’re back up and running at full speed.
Please note that for times like this we have a backup board installed on a seperate webspace account, so should the main ostomyland message board ever be unobtainable, please feel free to pop over to the emergency ostomyland board, located at: http://www.ostomyland.co.uk/phpbb/

As regular Ostomyland Chat Room users will know there has been a connection issue for Windows Vista users who used our Java Chat facility. The applet would load up fine, however upon clicking the “connect now” button most Vista users were left hanging on the “Connecting to server….” message.
Over the last few months, Windows Vista Ostomyland java chat users have been facing connection problems. The client would load OK, but would not connect to the server and the chat room. During this time we have been advising people to use the Ostomyland mIRC, or regular mIRC scripts if they are facing this problem.
At long last though the source of the problem has been identified, and fix has been worked out. It is now just a matter of implementing it on to the five different variations of our Java Chat windows. This will take a bit of time. With a bit of luck it will be completed over the weekend.
A further announcement will be made once the problem has been fully rectified so that our Windows Vista java-chatters can go back to their client of choice instead of the mIRC program (which is a fabulous program, much more powerful and certainly my preference of the two options, but I appreciate some other people prefer the Java option.)

The Ostomyland community recently celebrated its 4millionth page-view/hit since its launch in January 1998.
I would just like to thank everyone that has made this huge achievement possible, especially the moderators/admins of the community who keep things running smoothly, and of course to the visitors and regulars in the chat room ‘n’ forums, as it is you that really make Ostomyland what it is.
Now the countdown begins to the 5millionth hit………..
